Wager

Just remembered the drinking,
All the joshing and the bet,
And now he was truly enjoying
A night he'd never forget.
A very much older woman
Showing signs of wear and tear
But lying there in the darkness
He really didn't have a care,
Remembering the old saw
Of old fiddle and new tune
Regretting his adventure
Would be over too soon.
He slipped on his clothing
Heard the lady softly sigh
And as he closed the door
Heard her whispered goodbye
